Travel days are so much fun…
Well I'll set the picture for you. You wake up at 3 in the morning.
You then get to take all your stuff to the lobby, then stack it in a stack then this is the most important step pray that your bag makes it to the bus or mini bus or what ever you are riding in. Then load it on there. Then double check cause you cant find someones bag not of there own fault. Then you pray for save travel. Then load in, that sometimes can be a trick. like 20 people into a 12 passenger van for 9 hours. or it can simply that you got the seat that has no foot space instead you have your feet on the bags next to you above your head. or just a uncomfortable position.
Then you are at the drivers command that might mean stopping and then stopping again in 30 min. or not stopping at all.
We left at about 4:30 in the morning and got to our ministry site after 8pm. But I'm sure that, it was one of the short travels for us. So that is good and bad.
I spent much of my time listening to music and reading. If you are wondering what I'm reading well its a big book well two of them one called the Bible you might have heard of it before the other is "The City of God" by Saint Augustine its a good read its long but if you are interested in the roman empire and the early church its a good read. But it is a really long read so get ready if you do want to read it.
One of the troubles of travel day for me is that I don't get my God time in. I skip my devo and journaling. Which I know is bad. I'm going to try and do it on those days even more cause they are the days I could use it the most the days that I will get stress and pushed to the edge. So I'm going to make sure it happens next time.
One of the best times in the travel is the crossing of the border. We found out that well the internet is not always the most accurate thing cause it said we should be able to cross into Honduras with out any fee. Well we found out that Honduras has gone back on a international treaty and well we had to pay that just added to the stress for everyone. But we all made it so it all went as planed.
Well just a little of what a travel day is like for a racer.
