The first ministry day.
Today we started ministery in Guatemala, before that we had some good worship time and heart to heart time. The ministry was Jail ministry at the local jail for the quiche. We rode to the ministry in the back of a pick up truck. At the jail, we painted a wall and started to other painting projects. We had a great time for lunch with a few other jail employees where we talked with them and asked them about them selves we finished by praying over them and they even prayed over us. The work was a great time. When we had come into the prison we heard a preacher preaching and then the people praying all together out loud. It really started to stretch me seeing all the people that have been in there for years cause of the none speady trials. Everyone of them is awaiting a trial. They have good spirits and many seem to know that is where they have been called to be by God. We had the oppertinity to see the cells they are in they are crowded very crowded they sleep in areas that are much tighter than anything that we could ever imagine. Around 20 people sleep in an area that is about twice the size of the tent I am in.
Before I left, I had lunch with my former youth pastor and he told me he was going to get a world map and put bars over each country that I go to jail in. I found it quiet poetic to have the first ministry on the first day of The World Race be in a jail. So been in jail once so far on the race. We will see how many other times I will be in Jail.
