My sister went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning.  She was hit by a drunk driver and was pronounced dead at 12:41 am.  She was 22 years old and was pregnant with her 2nd child, baby Hayleigh Marie.  They will both be dearly missed.

Kaleb’s, Penny’s 4 1/2 year old son pictured here, babysitter is a mom with a middle school aged daughter, Emily.  Emily had asked God for a sign that Penny was alright.  The other night Penny spoke to her in a dream.  Penny said she was alright, Heaven is beautiful, Hayleigh is beautiful, she misses Kaleb alot, and she misses us.  We knew she was with Jesus, but we cannot begin to explain how reassuring this was to us.

Prayer requests are endless at this point, but the main ones are:

~For Kaleb…direction and wisdom for us as we begin to transition him to his “new” family, he will be staying with us but it will still be hard without his mom being there.  He is also beginning to have bad dreams and calling out for his mom during the night.  Pray the Holy Spirit would just continue to hold him in his arms, and that he would know his mom loves him dearly.

~For my family…continued comfort.  God has definitely been blessing us with the comfort only He can give, but I’m sure more will be needed as people start to go home at the end of the week.  Pray for us during the service on Friday at 11 am…that it would be a time of celebration and remembering.

~For the guy who hit my sister and his family.  He is only 26.  He is married, and he may have a pregnant wife as well.  He is facing 2 counts of DUI/Manslaughter.  Pray he would be surrounded by people who could share the love of Jesus with him and his family.

~For Travis…the father of Hayleigh.  My family and I are not exactly fond of this guy, and the way he is reacting to all of this is giving us good reason to really, really not like him.  Ask that we would have mercy and grace with him while he gets his 15 minutes of fame.  Pray he would get his head on straight…ironically, he has several DUI charges on his record.  Pray for his and his family’s salvation through all of this.

~For myself…direction concerning the World Race.  I have made the decision not to go on the July 08 Race, which is when I was planning on leaving.  I will be seeking the Lord’s counsel concerning the other times to leave.  And on top of all this, my parents asked me the other day if I would think about adopting Kaleb.  My parents are more than willing to do so, but it is something they have thought about given I’m only 23 and they are older.  This is a huge, life altering decision, and it makes my head spin just thinking about being a mother at this age…I don’t know how my sister did it at the age of 17!

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.  I cannot tell you how much it means to have all of you, literally!, all over the world praying for my family and myself.  It is truly one of the biggest blessings I have ever received, and I know for a fact the reason why my family and I feel so much peace is because all of you are asking to cover us in peace.  While my spirit groans in prayer, the Holy Spirit and all the World Race networks are interceding for us.  It is the HUGEST blessing in the whole world!

Love to all.
