Growing up I have always gone to Church. As far as I can remember every Sunday it would be off to Church.

I definitely remember always hearing about God and Jesus, but I didn't learn much about the Holy Spirit. I got baptized in 8th grade and was told the Holy Spirit was now with me, but I didn't understand what that meant…

Holy Spirit, are you really there??

At Training Camp, it was all about the Holy Spirit and being empowered by it. To be honest, I thought it was weird at first to ask for the Holy Spirit to come, but then when I opened myself up….I just felt this overwhelming sense of calm and I knew then that it was only possible because the Holy Spirit was there, was IN me.

My Church at home doesn't talk much about this kind of stuff though, about miracles and healings or even much about tongues or prophesy so to witness it first hand was definitely mind blowing…

There were some strange (but awesome) nights…a lot of firsts….

I don't doubt that the Holy Spirit can empower us and miracles can happen though…

I guess without thinking about it too much I have felt promptings from the Holy Spirit before and definitely gotten that nagging feeling when you know you need to do something and you don't want to, but the feeling won't go away…yea…Holy Spirt, you are there aren't you?

The Holy Spirit is there, I'm sure of that now, but how do I be IN it? How can I be conciously aware all the time? How do I listen?

For me the answer is simple. BE OPEN. Be willing to take that step and stop listening to the world, but instead to be in continuous prayer and meditating upon the Word.

The answer is simple, but the journey is HARD…

I'm sure there are many more things for me to learn and see throughout next year and I'm looking forward to it.

Holy Spirit, you are here.

"He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:7-8 (NIV)
