This month team Overflow is helping out our contact Marty on his property. He has bought some land in the village and has a dream of starting a children's home.

So our job this month is to help him make it a reality! So far we have been gardening and digging a trench so that we can build a rock wall by the road. It's hard work but we have fun playing with the goats and sheep that belong to the family next door. We also have meet a few of the villagers as they come to either tell us what we are doing wrong, what they think we should be doing, or want to know why Americans are here.

We spent our first day making the yard look "smart" by cutting grass, pulling weeds, picking up trash, and cutting back other weeds that were not in the garden. One of the weeds, as we soon discovered, liked to fight back…after it had died. This particular plant is hated and sometimes feared by the team. This plant is called The Stinging Nettle. If you brush up against it is does live up to its name and sting you. It burns for about 15 minutes and sometimes little bumps appear. It makes working in the yard a bit more interesting and more victorious when we level a patch of Stinging Nettles without getting stung. Though they don't ever seem to give up without a fight, and still sting us after they have been uprooted, we will win the war!
