NOTE: Sorry I haven’t written any new blogs lately. Due to various reasons I had to wait till I got home. So I’m going to post blogs that I’ve had written for awhile but wasn’t able to post until now. Enjoy!
My Race has been awesome so far. And luckily for me and my squad we have also had just about the same weather throughout the race. Makes packing easier right? Spring/Summer clothing. That’s all I’ve been using. Sure an jacket here or there and Jeans for those random cooler days but nothing bad.
Then we arrived in China…NOT summer weather. Here is what my warmest outfit consisted of: jeans that were too big, tee shirt, a fleece jacket (PTL for free tables!), and chacos. Then we learn that my team will be living high in the mountains in an area that used to be Tibet.
This is where I gained an even greater appreciation for the racers who have gone before me.
We arrive at our ministry site and discover that the team who was there a year ago had left sweaters, jeans, long sleeve shirts, and sweatshirts behind and we got to use them! So Thanks so so much to the team that was in that area before us and for leaving that behind! It helped me stay warm!
But before I go on, I do want to point out that “those who have gone before” don’t always mean people who are finished or father along the race than I am, it could mean team(s) who have just been to that location before me. So what other great things have racers who have gone before done? Glad you asked 🙂
- Leaving stuff behind (see above for one example why)
- Setting up things with contacts so that each team is starting from Square one
- Leaving encouraging notes
- Telling us where they left off with certain people so that you can pick it right up.
- Giving us tips of where to find internet or places to stay away from.
- Giving us an idea of what the race will be like.
- Giving us an idea of what we could be doing with a particular ministry (this works if you know who has already been there and if you know ahead of time who you will be working with and you read their blogs.)
- Tips for where to stay if your team is doing Unsung for the month.
- For just being AWESOME!
So to all who had gone before me – Thank You!
