The battle is raging for the city of Birmingham, Alabama. I know that it is because the enemy wants it and God wants it. But they both cannot have it at the same time. We want God to have it! and are trying to let God have it. The enemy does not like that and is attacking.
As a result of dreams and confirmation, we recently finished 7 days of non stop prayer to fill the bowls in heaven, for Birmingham.
I saw the battle coming with my own eyes. A several weeks ago I, accompanied with two leaders of Redigging the Wells, and a few others to met with the Legion Field board. We talked, we looked at the (football) field, we drove around the field, then we left. As we were leaving, I could see the storm. Though it was a natural thunderstorm, I felt like there was more to it. It looked angry. The battle lines were being drawn. The storm was coming after us. The anger was trying to drive us out of Birmingham, away from Legion field.
For those who don't know, on September 15 we pray that there will 50,000+ people meeting at Legion Field from 12pm-12am. This worhsip event is called Redigging The Wells. Our purpose is to cry out to God for His return. We want to be "a city on a hill" for the nation. We also want to uncork the wells of Justice that were stopped up on September 15 1963, the day that 16th Street Baptist Church was boomed. That was the day that four little girls lost their lives because of the hate that was in the hearts of the KKK. That was the day that Birmingham died. We want to revive the city! We want to bring it back to life! That can only happen though the power of God.
Where did we get the idea of wells? From Genesis 26 when Isaac was redigging the wells that his father Abraham had dug. The first few wells that he tried to uncover had lots of conflict. He was finally able to find a well where there was no fighting among the different people groups. It was there that God renewed the covenant that he had made with Abraham.
The wells of justice started in Birmingham during the Civil Rights Movement. The wells were stopped up on September 15 1963. We want to uncover that well and bring justice back and revive the city of Birmingham.
Why now? "September 15, 2012 is the 49th anniversary of the 1963 bombing at 16th Street Baptist Church. In ancient Israel, the Year of Jubilee was the 50th year. It was announced at the end of the 49th year and beginning of the 50th. In the sovereignty of God, this September 16, 2012 is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish Feast of Trumpets. It is a celebration of the day of creation and the Hebrew New Year. On the 49th anniversary of injustice, God desires to launch a Jubilee of justice in Jesus name to a new generation. It will be a new beginning for Birmingham, our state, and our nation…..The climax of Redigging The Wells comes with The Midnight Cry! This boiling point of worship is based on Matt. 25:6 – "At midnight a cry rang out. The Bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him!" The Jubilee Vision is that at midnight 50,000 voices will join 50 ram's horn trumpets and cry as One Bride to Jesus, our Bridegroom King in Heaven, that we want Him to come to our city!"*
There are two types of wells in this city, there are the wells that we are trying to reopen, the wells of justice, love, peace, worship, and praise. Those are the wells of God. The other wells are already open. Those are the wells of division, corruption, hatred, and injustice. Those are the wells of the enemy, those are the wells that we are trying to cover once and for all. Only one set of wells can be uncovered. If one set is open then the other must be covered. For as people cannot serve two masters, neither can a city. This city has a history of uncovering the wells of the enemy. The city was established on division, hatred, and injustice. Those wells run deep, the world knows about those wells, they saw the news coverage of the injustice in the 1960's. However, there are wells that run deeper, into good fresh water. Those are the wells of life. A guy who was passing though not to long ago, had a vision as he entered the city for the first time. He saw two rivers under the city intersecting to form a cross and he also saw the Glory of God coming down into the city, filling it, and going down under the city. These wells of God not only run deeper, but they also run higher. These are the wells that we want to uncover.
This September 15th we want to bring Jesus to the city, the Sprit and the Bride say "Come!". This September 15th we want justice to flow in the city! This September 15th we want a new generation to grow up in a city where there is love -not hate- peace – not war- unity – not division based on ethnicity – forgiveness – not bitterness. This September 15th we want a New Birmingham!
But we cannot do this alone.
We need your help! We need your prayers!
Pray that all the Christians are united so that we can fight the enemy together!
Pray that every person in the city hears about Redigging the Wells!
Pray that favor continues to be poured out for this.
Pray that all the leaders (religious and governmental) catch the vision and keep burning for this!
Pray that the city burns for the Spirit of God to fill Birmingham!
Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray!
As I have said in my last blog, prayer is powerful, it moves things, and prayers from many people are powerful indeed! If nothing else, pray because a city needs you to. Pray because 50,000+ people need you. Pray because God desires it.
Thank you! Please keep praying for Birmingham and what God is going to do on September 15! We still have lots to do from now till then so please don't stop praying!
