Safety and Freedom
This past week I was at training camp in Gainesville, Georgia.
Other than being exposed to monstrous spiders, the arctic cold, and treacherous
rain which birthed a sticky red earth, it was all quite good because I
experienced safety and freedom.
to work on ourselves and who we are so that we can be optimally prepared to
engage our global journey the following year. The stories of my teammates in how
they persevered through divorce, through sexual abuse, through abandonment, and
through disorders because God was with them and was there to restore them set
me free to know that God can be trusted.
should look like, what my dreams should be, and my fears – fears of my
financial security, of rejection, and of the unknown. I was able to forgive
those I felt rejected by and embrace God’s promises of who I was. I was chosen,
daughter of the King, holy, and an enemy of evil.
exercise and team building – yes, there was plenty of that along with camping
outdoors and of course, dance parties! What really changed my life was the
people – I felt safe around them to share my junk and share my burden. I didn’t
need to hold onto what was, but came out with open hands, ready to take on the
mission before me.
