Brother Philip and Brother Mel have been taking us to visit homes to pray for people and share a word of encouragement. We passed by some of the houses that the World Race team from January had visited before. We bumped into this little girl in a dress and Philip told us that when the last WR team was there, she had a stroke and couldn’t walk, but God had healed her and now she was walking fine without any symptoms of her stroke. We also passed by the house of another woman who during the time the last team was there, she was so sick that she could barely move, but now she is well again. Philip told us that Jesus had healed those two individuals even though that team was not there to witness the outcome of their prayers.
We visited Celestine, Evelyn, and Katherine and I got to share the story about the Samaritan woman and the hope and love she found in Jesus. I picked this story since Celestine had 3 husbands that left her which was similar to the story of the Samartan woman who had 5 husbands. The next house we visited, we met Pauline who wanted to put her full faith in Christ. She had been going to church for the past 2 months, but just hadn’t invited Jesus into her life yet. She wanted us to pray with her to accept Jesus into her life. We also met Milly and Margaret. Milly’s brother was in prison and she would leave work to go pray for her brother at church. She lost her job from missing work too often. John also shared from the story of the Samaritan woman to let her know that she can pray anywhere and that she didn’t need to leave work to pray at church. Since the time that she had lost her job, she has found several opportunities for work, but for some reason she can’t get herself to go work. Even though she really wants to work, when she finds a job, she loses all her passion to go to the interview and to get that job so she can’t provide for her family. Brother Philip sensed that there was a spirit at work there and that she was under some type of bondage or generational curse that was preventing her from stepping into the destiny God has for her. She acknowledged that this bondage has always been present in her family and her own life. We prayed in Jesus name for her freedom.

Later, we spoke with Brother Philip regarding generational curses and blessings. He pointed out from Scripture the trend of generational issues- from Abraham lying about Sarah being his wife, Laben deceiving Isaac, Isaac lying about Rebekah being his wife, and Jacob who deceived his brother. They were all part of the same family line struggling with the same issue of deception. Today, we see generations in one family line struggling with alcoholism or divorce…etc. As followers of Christ, we need to fight for the different kind of legacy we want to leave behind by first changing the way we think. We need to pray that the chains of bondage will be broken because we have been given that authority through Christ. Most importantly, we must choose our everyday decisions wisely because their cumulation will reflect the future we want to create. More than genes get passed through the bloodline because we are ultimately spirits living in human flesh. Often times our family’s struggles become our own as well as their strengths. Philip shared with us about how his father had sold almost all of his possessions to support the leaders of King Jesus Faith ministries when it was starting. Now that Philip is a pastor himself, God has met his every need. He believes that it was a generational blessing that his father had began. What kind of inheritance will you leave behind because of the decisions that you choose to make?
