What is getting lucky? Luck is simply a positive coincidence. A coincidence in the very literal meaning of the word is a co+incidence or together+happening without planning. The question is who is working it altogether? Usually two or more parties are involved, but what brings these two together?
Katy, who is a nurse and World Racer that served with us on that medical project, wrote a blog about Jason. On our last day in the Philippines, she informs my team that a man from Operation Smile contacted her to let her know that Operation Smile would be willing to assess Jason to see if they can provide free surgery for him. He was from the United States and happened to read her blog regarding Jason. In fact, he had just returned from the Philippines working for Operation Smile. What are the odds that the exact person we need to find in turn found us? Call us lucky, that was a positive coincidence. It was an incidence and the “joint/together” meaning of the co- is for you to decide who to attribute it to. One was our team who prayed and tried to find help for Jason, the other is obviously our contact from Operation Smile, but who or what is the link that joined it all together?
“God works together with those who love him to bring about what is good- with those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
