This past Sunday, we got to meet Mark who was originally from France, but is now working in Florida. He was visiting those he knew in Ukraine and spoke to us about the privilege that we get to make choices. We have the freedom of being free-thinking agents, especially us Americans where our liberties of all sorts are protected and encouraged by our government.

He spoke about how we often wish that we had a set plan for our lives or how we wished that God would just tell us his will for our lives. When we hear it, we might not be so happy because we actually don’t want to do His so called will. Who wants to go to live in Africa for life because that’s God’s will? – Let’s use that as an example. Probably many of us will say no. The thing is – we get the privilege of choice. We get to choose to volunteer to go to Africa. We get to choose to love our enemies. We get to choose to give our belongings to those in need.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do
not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Gal. 5:1
