Divine Appointment at the Mall

After three weeks of serving in the jungle at the Orang Asli community, my team has left to help out at KL international church in Kuala Lumpor. On one of our first days back in the city, my team spent a few hours walk around the area with the famous twin towers and through the mall to see who God wanted us to speak with.

John and I went to a seating area right next to the elevators and we sat next to a middle aged Chinese woman. John and I were curious about Singapore so we began to ask her about it and she told us about her most recent visit there this past Christmas. Although most of the population spoke in Malay or English, she only spoke Cantonese so I spoke to her and got to translate for
John. She was visiting the mall that day because her son worked at a bank there and they were getting together for lunch. She began to open up more about her family and share with us about how her family were ancestral worshippers except for her sister. She shared with us about how her husband had passed away and accept Christ before he died. She was living with her immediate family now and they were all ancestral worshippers. John encouraged me to share with her my life’s story about living in the same conditions she was in now. The woman told us about how her sister keeps talking to her about Jesus and how the pastor would tell her about Jesus. I got to share with her about how Jesus was definitely pursuing her through people she knew at home and through me and John who had come all the way from America. We shared with her what it means to enter into a relationship with the living God and that even if she doesn’t choose that relationship today, God is waiting for her when she decides to pray and invite Christ into her life.
