Wefve made some awesome friendships not only with our contacts, but also with the students at the university. Wefve been invited to one of their homes and can I say this is the most hospitable place in all of the planet! We were invited to our friendfs home and his family treated us to salty snacks, cakes, cookies, tea, juices, water, and bought each of us burgers for lunch. Another one of our friends took all 8 of us (Malachi + contact) out to dinner and treated. Although we always try to pay, somehow they always figure out a way to sneak out and cover our coffees when we arenet even done hanging out. Itfs the culture here to go out for coffee as a way of getting to know each other. Itfs been a wonderful exchange of culture, ideas, company, and worldviews through friendship.

Ifve learned many interesting things including:
-I have never eaten so many burgers in my life and they are delicious!
-fohawks are in! and they rock it out quite well
-techno and Turkish music dominate the cafes
-everyone smokes cigarettes
-the unemployment rate is 30%
-itfs expected get married by the time you are 25 years old
-family is very important and meeting family expectations
-95% are Albanian Muslim and although you donft need to practice it, you must identify yourself with it
-people here are VERY good at playing pool
-the trees are way colorful and it will snow very soon (probably next month)
-tattoos and piercing are looked down upon
-people are SUPER generous and everyone owns their own business
-there is every type of pepper imaginable sold on the streets
-the coffee cups are about the size of a shot glass, but it usually comes with whip cream
