Describing yourself on paper is always harder than you think it’s going to be.  I guess it’s easiest to start with the basics.  I grew up in a small east Texas town of about 1,000 before leaving for college.  I attended a small private Christian college and then headed straight to grad school. The Lord decided it was time for me to leave the comforts of the small town and He moved me to the big city of Houston. Although I love the city I am a country girl at heart.  I love to go home and help my dad mow our pasture, ride the four wheeler or spend hours just looking at the stars that tend to disappear in the bright lights of Houston.  I love seeing pasture instead of cement and trees instead of high rises.  I am a big time family girl.  I have one brother and two precious nieces.  I love those two girls like they were my own!  I am an absolute sports fanatic and will play or watch just about any sport you can imagine, with football being my favorite by far.  I will watch any football game any time anywhere!

Since accepting the Lord at a young age, He has been with me every step I have taken. I have made some not so bright decisions but the Lord has turned each one into something good.  After graduate school I was blessed to be offered my dream job as a junior college coach.  It didn’t take very long to figure out my dream wasn’t really what my heart desired. For the past several years I have taught middle school math and coached high school girls and been exactly where the Lord had called me. Over the past year my heart has been longing for something more, a deeper calling if you will. For months I have wrestled with leaving what I felt like the Lord had called me to do in order to pursue something different, all the while not knowing what that calling might be. Once I heard about the World Race my heart did a back flip, and for the first time in awhile I was ecstatic about the possibility of following the Lord down a completely different path than I ever would have dreamed possible!  I can’t wait to take this journey and see where the Lord leads us!
