I am a rock under a waterfall. My only purpose is to let the water flow over me. Without the water I am just a rock. A plain old rock, like all the others, nothing special to see. As the water flows over me it shapes me. It softens my sharp edges. It makes me new. When you look you don’t see me. All you see is the water. The water moves continually and shapes all rocks like me.
It’s hard to describe to you the amazing, nonstop life I’m living. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in life. I’m living for Jesus. All the time. I have no agenda but to go where He leads. He orchestrates my movements. His words flow out of my mouth. I listen to Him and He speaks to me.
Life in Arroyo Cano, the small village in the mountains of the DR, is incredible. I see God everywhere. I see Him in the lush green mountains that surround me, I hear Him gushing out of children’s laughter, I see Him in the eyes of the wise, I see Him in the flawless night sky, I see Him in my team of six others, and I feel Him in me.
Nothing can quite express the joy of this place. They prefer relationships over punctuality. The hospitality is like nothing you’ve ever experienced in America. Their patience is abundant. Bright, vibrant colors dance along the streets. This place is alive.
This blog is not about my life. It’s not about what I’m doing. It’s my heart. My heart poured out for whomever to read. I love this place. I love the Spanish language. And I love the work that Jesus is doing here.
I am just a rock in a waterfall. Jesus flows through me. He gets all credit for the good things that I am. The bad in me is just a sharp edge he has yet to polish. I pray when people see me they see the glory of Jesus; the beautiful waterfall.
