So we've made it to Nicaragua, one 18-hour bus ride then overnighting in a hostel then 3-hour bus ride then 1-hour ferry then 20-minute bus ride later (Travel day video below, by Michael Nicosia).

Squad leaders Robby Riggs and Megan Rouse have come and gone earlier this week–not before experiencing a pleasant 7.6-earthquake (epicenter in neighboring Costa Rica. Don't worry World Race parents, nothing a woman from California can't navigate.)

We've begun our routine for the month, working construction and in the garden and kitchen in rotations Monday through Friday. Saturdays are our off days where we go into town to snag some internet time and Sundays are spent at a toasty Pentacostal church. Actually, everywhere is toasty on this island. Did I mention we're on an island? Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, to be exact. Team Hebron is paired up with Team Reckless Faith this month and we're at CICRIN (Nicaraguan Christian Children's Center), an orphanage that takes in children that are orphaned, abandoned, or have families unfit to care for them.

Having Lake Nicaragua nearby has been a blessing, especially when the mosquitos are at their most frenzied state and clothes have been soaked through with the days' work-sweat. When I swim to shore every evening, I can't help but think of my relationship with my Daddy.

I'm finding my footing here. I'm learning how to transition from the rocky lake bottom to the black sandy shore. I'm slipping occasionally, but I'm moving forward. What does it mean to solely listen to the voice of my Father? To be consistent in my character no matter what the circumstance? I'm learning every day what it means to live as a daughter of God, fully approved before a single task is performed and fully approved despite the day's outcome.

Apologies again for the inconsistency in blogging, this is the third month I've been stationed at a ministry site without internet (which is actually fantastic for ministry, not so great for keeping in touch with those back at home).
