Yesterday I had my first major event, which was a benefit concert! I invited 6 amazing musician to come play along with as many people I could invite from Facebook and in person to come listen to the live music! As I walked into the venue things became overwhelming, everything that was promised to me for the event was not communicated to any of the staff working not even to the co-owner! So, the event started quite rocky and it never helps when you already have tears sitting behind my eyes and nerves that people won’t show up!! So, a dear friend pulled me to the side and prayed over me as I cried on her shoulder… she prayed that I would be free of defeated feelings I was having and be comforted! As the words were whispered in the air those heavy emotions drifted away! Despite the hiccups with the venue, the night was wonderful!! I was able to purchase most of my equipment for the Race and start putting more toward the trip!! I am getting closer and closer to making my first financial goal for the trip!
Ok so of course we need the highlights of the evening!! First My musicians Rock!!! Taylor Aguilar came in and took control of the show!!! She texted me the night before telling me she has lost her voice … which totally concerned me for here… this event is not worth getting more sick for.. for sure! But of course this crazy girl pushed herself to play her little heart out for me!!! At the end of her set… she was way worse and was headed home but then the family car broke down!!! So many things were happening!! But it has been such a blessing to have been able to see her grow in this wonderful gift God has given her and in her walk!
Then the wonderful other musicians who were all over the place for me because thing were just working out wonky!! my conversations with all of them (- taylor cause she is sick and home!)… Soooooo could you possibly … go earlier… longer… shorter… again!!! But each one was gracious with their time and talent!! Thank y’all So very much for your flexibility and generocity!
Rekindled friendships happened last night! One of my professors from school invited her sunday school class to the concert and then she could not make it! But the ladies from her class still came and honestly had no clue what they were coming to!! But, one of the ladies new a friend of mine that had lost touch years ago from when they lived in Houston and now they both live in New Braunfels! It was so neat to watch them talking!
The best story of the whole night… was how God conquered the evening taking it back from the grips of chaos and bringing joyful adoration! Between the event staff, lack of communication, and dear friends getting sick or tired or focused on working on other things, this event could have turned out terrible (which was my fear)! But, God made his presence known and through the joyful laughter, affirming hugs and warm loving conversations it was such a wonderful place to be!!! This was a great event to start everything going!!
More Events to come! Next event August 23rd for breakfast at the new house in New Braunfels!!
