This is a tribute to a man who lived a life faithful to the Calling God placed on him.. The Reverend Dr. Rochunga Pudaite. His was a life lived in surrender to God’s plan and purposes. His legacy has impacted Eternity. My Squad and I were able to witness first hand the Fruitfulness of this life.
U Squad spent Month 4 (commonly known as “October”) in Assam, India serving the Hmar people with the ministry founded by Dr. Rochunga, “Bibles for the World”. During his lifetime he accomplished much for the Kingdom of God, one of these accomplishments included being the first to translate the Bible into the language of his tribe. As a result of his diligence and hard work, the Hmar people can now read the Word of God and many have received Salvation, now able to walk in the Freedom of relationship with their Savior Jesus Christ.
Truly, ministries cannot be compared to one another. Countries and people groups cannot be lumped together into one thing that is ranked on the growing list of places I am traveling to and serving in… With that being said however, India and the Hmar people hold a special place in my heart. Month 4, for me, was the most significant month yet.
My Team (RAJ) spent our last month together teaching in the Ministry’s school, PMS – “Partnership Mission Society”. There are many PMS schools throughout the State of Assam and our Squad spread out amongst them. RAJ was sent to the small village of Moulhoi, Haflong. Even as I write this the biggest smile comes to my face! I love that place and the Hmar people we lived with there. They became not only friends, but family to me.
It is obvious that this blog post is extremely delayed… The reason being that in order for me to tell you of all the beautiful people (John & Lawm, Azariah, Madam Pui, Biekie, Hossana, John, Robert, Jiffy, Mary, Rebecca, Sir DT…), the significant and purposeful work (speaking in churches, fellowshipping with teachers, teaching hundreds of students the things of God) and all of the adventures experienced (surviving the commute up the mountain to the village, learning to drive a motorcycle, unforgettable 5:30am walks) it would take far too long.
I will choose to share one thing however.. I eluded to the founder of the ministry that we served with, Dr. Rochunga, and his legacy.. Dr. Rochunga passed away during the first half of our month. His death was sudden and unexpected. Though this was not apart of the Pudaite family’s plans or ours, God is in control and his timing is perfect. It was very purposeful that we were present and serving in his ministry during the time of his passing. We were able to attend his funeral and hear testimony after testimony of all the Fruit of his labor.
I never had the privilege of meeting Dr. Rochunga in person but my life has been impacted by his in such a way that I am forever changed. I have been inspired by a simple man who made the best choice a person can make in the one life they’re given… He decided to say “yes” to his Creator. That may sound cliche, but the power found in that choice is unmatchable. The world is different because of his life and the most beautiful part of this reality is that you and I have the opportunity to make this same choice.
& friends, I intend to.
To help share of the wonderful people, places, foods, laughs and memories with you, I have created a video. This will help fill the spaces where words aren’t quite enough..
