My 4 years at the University of Mississippi have flown by! It seems just yesterday I was making the decision to go to an out of state school and leave my family and friends 12 hours away. Now fast forward to 4 years later and I am a college graduate! I have gained friendships that will last a life time and have grown tremendously. I write this while I’m still in Oxford, MS each day saying I’ll just stay here for a couple more days….I had planned to drive home yesterday OOPS! Once I leave this place I called home for four years it won’t be the same when I come back to visit. New girls will be making memories in my house a lived in and I’ll just be that old alumni telling current students to cherish their time at Ole Miss and Oxford because it goes by way too fast. Honestly, I’ll probably recommend them to do a fifth year so they can stay just one for football season. Oxford,MS will always be my home away from home and Orlando, FL will always be my home but now its time to start a building a new home. Starting in September I’ll have a new home each month. Its going to be a challenge no doubt and I know ill be wishing for my queen size bed and all the amenities I have taken for granted in America. But now I believe I am ready for a new adventure and I know I’ll be comforted and encouraged by Christ. I leave for training camp next month. There I will be meeting my squad mates that I’ll be spending the next 11 months with and get a small glimpse of what the race will be like. I’ll be sleeping in a tent in the Georgia summer heat and have to do a 2 mile hike within 40 minute with my 40 pound pack on. I currently don’t know how to pitch a tent and yet to buy my pack so these next couple weeks as a prepare for training camp should be interesting to say the least. But I am up for the challenge! I am scared, nervous and excited all at the same time. So ready or not preparation for training camp starts NOW!…. well that is if I ever leave Oxford. Its called the “velvet ditch” for a reason.
