Hola! I’d like to introduce you to the amazing and fabulous people I was placed with to live and serve alongside! Team
FIRE! GLORY! FREEDOM!
These people are going to be my immediate family while on the race for my first 3-4 months. When my name was called with the rest of them, I was leaping with joy! I could not have imagined, hoped, or prayed for being matched any better. I sincerely love each and every one of them SO MUCH! And the grandest part is that I truly want to learn from them. All 5 of them are people I could have long chats with, people I could serve with, people I could open up my heart to, people I feel comfortable with, people I trust, and really, even if we were at home, they’d be the first people I’d call to hangout and grab a bite to eat. I love them!
This is Chuck Morris. I think everyone on our squad will tell you that Chuck has a big heart and loves serving and providing for others. I think that runs deep in his family. I’ve stayed at his parents place a few times and they greet you with true Southern Hospitality. Chuck and I truly have that brother and sister relationship. We laugh, bicker, pray, and pick on each other, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. From the day I met Chuck I knew he would be someone I’d like to serve with but I never thought we’d be placed on the same team together. We were both shocked and enthused that we are now part of the same team. Plus, he is bringing a solar panel… what’s not to love?!? hahaha!
This is Thomas Herder! From the moment he stated that he played harmonica and likes to play frisbee, I knew we’d get along just fine ha! He seems very calm, collected, and reserved and usually has something funny to say when he does pipe up! I’m very happy we have him on our team, he seems very knowledgeable. I’m not sure if he plays Chess but I could see myself playing chess with him right after some bible devo team time, lol!
This is Elizabeth Silvia. I cannot explain to you the sheer excitement I get in my heart every time I think of her! Lizzy, during a team building excercise, in which I was blind, and she was mute, took my hand and lead me through the forest up a mountain. It was love from then on! She just beams and exudes joy! And it’s extremely contagious. I can see myself just laughing hysterically with her. And she loves SHOW TUNES! And she can dance with the best of them! I cannot wait to learn from this girl and have my heart set fire with her kind of joy!
This is Susan Neate! Susan has traveled the world once over already and has tons of stories to share. She once called me up before training camp and I had the best conversation ever with her. Like Lizzy, I can already see myself laughing and having a grand ol’ time with her. She is someone I know I can trust and she can also speak some hardcore truth to you as well. Susan is also our team finance lady!!!! I’m so excited to serve with her, she really is such an amazing woman of God. She also went above and beyond and helped me support raise by finding churches to write to, such a big caring heart!
And last, but certainly not least, is Caleb Durham!! Caleb is our team leader. Oh, I cannot even describe how enthused I am that I am on his team. I spent most of my time learning from him the night our team went to an island at camp about spiritual gifts and the holy spirit. We stayed up with a few other squad mates late into the night laughing hysterically by the bonfire. His love for the Lord is so contagious. Watching him worship will get you fired up and ready to feel the love and excitement of the Lord. He is such an amazing example of someone who is passionate for others, for the Lord and everything in Gods creation. Caleb is such a fun person to be around and talk with. He has already taught me so much, I cannot wait to serve alongside him!
My heart aches to be with all of them again in just 10 short days when we launch from Washington DC. However, I am still short of the financial deadline which is the day before Launch, July 2nd.
