With only five weeks left in America it makes sense that I’m thinking about the race in every waking second. I am excited to have God’s presence overwhelming me everyday. I am excited to see the faces of different cultures and souls. I am excited to see miracles happen because of my prayers. I am most excited to be with the children. To see the innocent love of Jesus in their eyes; to make them laugh like they have no cares at all; and to fall in love with their dreams for our world.

Here I am playing with children in a Haitian village (2011)

I went to Haiti in August of 2011 to work at Grace Children’s Hospital. It didn’t take more than 60 seconds to have a heart for all 15 of the children staying at the hospital. Babies, teenagers, toddlers – it didn’t matter, my heart was immediately overcome with what I can only compare to a mother’s love. Spending barely a week with those kids you want to entertain them, to hug them, to tell them everything is going to be ok; and then you want someone to keep doing the same for them as soon as you leave.

In the next 11 months I will fall in love with more children than I can prepare for. My mom even joked that I will be coming home with 11 adopted kids (one for each country). Adventures in Missions is giving me the amazing opportunity to partner with Food For the Hungry to continue care of those children after I leave each country.

Children that FH sponsors

Food For the Hungry (FH) works in more than 25 countries worldwide with churches, leaders, and families to overcome poverty. They teach the children how to care for themselves and their families. They share the word of God with the children so that each and every one of them know that they are made in God’s image and He loves them. FH develops a relationship with the community and the children that is continuous.

For a monthly payment of only $32.00 you can sponsor a child of your choice and FH will donate $50.00 to my World Race. Just click on the link on the side of my blog that looks like this:

You can then select a country, a gender, and a child to sponsor. BONUS: If you select a child in one of the countries I am going to I may get to meet the child you are sponsoring! (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Cambodia, and Mozambique are the countries I’m going to that FH works in). Once you sponsor your child you will receive a picture of them to be reminded of your good deed daily.

I can’t wait to meet God’s children of the world and share their stories with you. Do you want to be a part of their story?
