So during the Labor Day holiday my family and I took that weekend to our advantage and went to the beach for a much needed Va-K. It was exactly what we all needed. Papa stayed with my other grandparents and we headed our way down south Thursday night after work. After a lovely 5 hour drive we finally made it to Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathy's house and it was an instant feeling of relaxation. We spent our days chillin on the beach and our nights eating seafood by the water. On Sunday I couldn't wait to go to church…. Uncle Mike being the pastor of the Chapel at the Beach may have had just a little bit to do with it. Every time we attend their church it makes us want to move so we can go every Sunday. Their worship service is true and you don't feel like the people are judgmental. It is not a "fluffed" up, make it sound easy, and fun time of teachings….. it's the straight truth where you have no doubt of your need to improve your faith and walk with Christ.
I had taken some of my prayer cards down there with me because on top of them reaching out to their community they are very missions minded. And I could never pass up the opportunity for more prayers while I'm gone. Pastor Uncle Mike told them about the cards being up at the table and after the service I saw a good many people grabbing them. I thought it was amazing. While Pops and I were waiting on Pastor Uncle Mike we decided to wait outside til he was done doing his "thang" of accepting compliments of the service. A lady and her husband walked by us and she was looking at my prayer card and asked me if that was me on the card. I happily said yes and I answered a few questions. She and her husband told me that their daughter had just come home from a 9 month trip with AIM as well. So they were familiar with the same struggles and obligations I had. It just reminded me of how small the world is.
This morning I was doing my usual checking my funds to see how far I had gotten over the weekend and low and behold if they hadn't donated a generous amount towards my trip. It blessed me so abundantly and showed me even though we were strangers and had no idea who each other were we were still family in Christ.
