Passport. Check

Tent. Check.

Sleeping bag. Check.

As I sit here going over the countless to-do lists I have created in my head over the last six months, triple checking that I have everything done and ready to go, the thought hits me like a ton of bricks…

This is really happening.

Malaria meds. Check.

The best way to describe how I feel in this moment is like a pebble in a slingshot. I’ve been locked and loaded. The rubber band has been pulled back as far as it is able. This week, the tension is finally going to be released, catapulting me high into the sky (literally haha).

Laptop. Check.

Tomorrow morning, I will put my 2 backpacks, passport, and small purse into my car and travel with my parents to Atlanta. There, I will meet with the rest of my squad and teammates. After 11 long weeks, we will all be reunited!! We will have a couple more days of sessions, debriefs, meetings, and final goodbyes with our parents. Then on Thursday, it’s…

”Adios, Estados Unidos!” and “Hola, Guatemala!”

Chacos. Check.

Over the last couple weeks, we all have had to say goodbye to our dearest family members and friends. We have willingly left jobs, sacrificing paychecks for donations, income for outcome. Apartments have been emptied. Cars sold. We have consolidated our belongings for the year into a single hiker’s backpack and day pack.

Journal. Check.

Bible. Check.

We do this, not for the show, not for the attention, not for the publicity, but because we all believe in and share a passion for one thing. Each of us has had our lives radically changed by God’s love. Each of us has felt called to go all around the world and preach the gospel to all nations. It is something I myself feel completely unqualified to do (more on that later though). Thank God, He is in control.

Love. Check!

I can’t begin to thank you all for all the support you have given me over the last 6 months! Your text messages, emails, phone calls, hugs, coffee dates, etc. have meant the world to me. If you would still like to donate financially, it’s not too late! Donations will be accepted through the end of June.
