A year and a half ago, I found myself in a similar place:
- Tent
- Sleeping Bag
- Clothes
- Toiletries
- Passport
- Ready to meet people around the world
At the time, I had no idea I would be launching a career, a lifestyle, a new worldview, a new passion. I thought I was only travelling to 11 countries for 11 months, I didn’t know I was stepping into a whole new world…*cue cheesy Disney song*
So what does this look like this time around? How is this time around going to be “same, same, but different”?
This time, I am a Squad Leader (SQL). The squad is made up of 8 men and 44 women. These are the 52 participants that will be travelling to the same 11 countries together: Albania, Romania, Malawi, Zambia, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. The squad is grouped into 8 teams: Sozo, Radiant Vibes, Galene, Mighty Oaks, Intrepid, Arm the Masses, Geronima, and Ezer.
When we get to a country, the teams will spread out within the country to do ministry. Each team has a team leader, and the squad as a whole has 3 squad leaders. I am one of those squad leaders!
As SQLs, we will visit different teams throughout the month. However, we will only be travelling with the squad for the first 5 months. After the fifth month, our job will be completed and other members from the squad will be given the opportunity to take our place in leading the whole squad to and through the final 6 countries.
I am beyond excited to spend the rest of the year learning from, loving on, and living with these incredible men and women of God. They have a genuineness about them that I love and respect.
They are real.
They are a force.
They are committed.
They are ready…
…and so am I!
