I often ask myself: Is there a god?
It’s kind of a big deal, seeing how I gave up my version of my life to tell people all over the world that the answer to that question is “Yes, of course.”
The more I’ve really taken the time to think about it, the more I’m finding that the answer really is “Yes.”
Thoughts below…
I believe in a god who calls himself LOVE.
He created it. He defines it. He invites us to experience it.
You can say there is no such thing is a god. That’s totes okay. I won’t be offended.
The question of a god’s existence has been around since the beginning. It’s the ponderings of our ancestors.
It’s been the subject of countless books, the reason for so many religions being formed.
Each of us has our own opinion. Each of us is entitled to have them.
Let’s say it’s true. There is no god, and God does not exist. Then, my question would be…
What about LOVE? How do you explain its existence?
The feeling a mother gets when she holds her baby for the first time.
The way a soon-to-be husband looks as his bride walks down the aisle.
The aching felt in the pit of your stomach when you’re homesick.
The butterflies felt when a reunion is on the horizon.
The mercy extended to you when a punishment was inevitable.
The reason you were given a gift when you expected to get nothing at all.
How do you define LOVE? How do you experience it?
What drives us to LOVE one another? What is the source of our desire to be LOVEd?
I believe in a god who calls himself LOVE.
He created it. He defines it. He invites us to experience it.
It is starting to make all the sense in the world to me.
We were created by two people making LOVE.
We write songs about falling in LOVE.
We miss LOVEd ones.
We want to be LOVEd.
It’s so much a part of our vocabulary.
I believe in a god who calls himself LOVE.
I’m not redefining Him. It was written about in the Bible.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love…”
It’s the same God followers of Jesus Christ have been preaching about for the last 2000 years.
He is the only god that defines Himself this way.
He did not create LOVE. He is LOVE.
Outside of Him, perfect LOVE does not exist.
We spend our lives searching for substitutes.
We take true LOVE out of life and replace it with off-branded versions. Then, we wonder why the LOVE we created wasn’t authentic.
When we talk about seeking LOVE, we refer to that part deep inside of us that wants to find that LOVE our heart desires.
If there is a god who created us, who calls Himself LOVE, it makes sense that there is a part of us that is always looking for our way to Him.
He created us with the desire to LOVE so that we could find our way home.
There is nothing Love LOVES more than to be LOVEd by the ones He created.
