Captain’s Log: July 3, 2015 2:15 am local time

I am hanging out in the airport with Team Radiant Vibes. We are more than halfway through our 14-hour, overnight layover. Sleep is happening on and off. Currently, our bodies say it is 6:15 pm. While we were all sleeping earlier, pizza and cokes where delivered by fellow squadmates to our claimed territory at a random gate. (Note: We have been random gate hoping all night now. This is currently our third move of the evening.) Naturally, we have collectively decided to forgo sleep for the moment and eat cold pizza. #thisisourlife

Travel day is going great! I am having so much fun getting to hang out with everyone. I am so encouraged by the squad’s attitude. Travelling in a group of 55 can be overwhelming to say the least. Yet, the squad remains positive. Anticipation is hanging in the air. In less than 12 hours, we will be landing in our first official country. For most of us, it hasn’t sunk in that this is really happening. I feel like it’s just another day when I realize, “No! I’m in Turkey. I’m walking in a place I’ve never been before. Everything I’m taking in is new. New friendships are forming. Life is happening all around. This is not just another day. This is a new day. A different day. A great day. The next best day of my life!”
