“Ask and you shall receive…”

I’ve heard that I lot in my life in relation to God. Since I’ve know about God’s existence my whole life, it was common to also know about His power in like big things: walking on water, calming storms, casting out demons, etc.

If I’ve learned anything since being with Him this past year, it’s that yes, He is in the big things, but because of His love, He’s also very much in the small things too. Yesterday morning, I was talking to Him and just asked for something simple,

“God, give me a good story today.”

In true Form, He went above and beyond. The teams decided to go to a neighboring town, an hour or so away by bus. We got to town, started wandering/exploring/walking in that direction with no clear agenda. Talk started about going to a castle and a lake nearby, but the logistics where unknown.

Then, as we are standing in the middle of Old Town just lollygagging, a girl showed up from nowhere. “Where are you all from?” We told her we were from the States. “Me too,” she responded.

She then told us about how her friend was starting a local tours business and wondered if we needed help getting somewhere or just general information about the area and what there is to do. The group ended up renting bikes to cycle to the castle nearby. Our day was starting to take shape and the pieces were falling into place.

As I kept talking to the girl, I quickly realized that SHE was my story the Lord was giving me! Come to find out, she is currently in the Peace Corps. She lives in the south of Albania (we were in the far north) and was just visiting for the weekend. The odds of us meeting each other were already impossible, just for the mere fact I’ve been traveling around a lot this month! (This was my fifth town in two and a half weeks.)

But God wasn’t finished! Our story/friendship suddenly got even better. We soon discovered that out of 319 million Americans, we had a mutual friend! One of my squad mates from last year went to college with this girl! How crazy! I just remember being stunned that how small the world felt in that one moment.

So ask and you shall receive! I got my good story yesterday and what’s more, I saw God smiling in that moment: Let Me write your story. Not just today, but every day. I love blowing your mind and increasing your faith in Me.
