In a previous blog I had mentioned that my mom had passed away but I failed to mention why she passed at such a young age.

What I am about to share is very vulnerable and uncomfortable, but I feel the need to share to encourage those who are trying to make a life change.

My mom battled with weight gain after having five children.

Truth is, my mom was obese.

She struggled with:

Diabetes.

High blood pressure.

Sleep apnea.

Congestive heart failure.

Depression.

Arthritis.

Cancer.

And underwent 4 hernia repairs.

WebMD states, Lowering body weight can reverse or prevent diabetes; lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels; and improve sleep apnea and other sleep problems — along with helping you feel better about yourself.

90% of all diabetes, 80% of heart disease, and 60% of cancers are preventable with healthier lifestyles and normal body weights.”

PREVENTABLE

My mom died of diseases that were preventable.

John 10:10 states that,

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

I believe that God wants to give us an abundant life. Physical life.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says,

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

Friday, February 14th , 2014, my mom would have turned 55 years old.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

Genesis 50:20

I will take up my cross and I will be an advocate for good health, for my family, friends and future generations.

God intends for us to live a full life but it’s our responsibility to DO IT.

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

I intend to celebrate my mother’s life by living my life more abundantly.

I started exercising.

I’m taking steps to eating clean and healthy.

Drinking more water.

Educating myself.

I’ll tell you this much, NO ONE should have to feel the pain of losing a loved one to a disease that could have been prevented.
