The Basics
I am currently 21 years young (will be 22 and 23 on the race!!). And since people always ask what ethnicity I am…I am half Japanese and half a whole bunch of white (Irish, Itallian, English….). In June, I will be graduating from the University of California of San Diego with a double major in human biology and psychology. I am Cali born and raised! I have been fortunate enough to always live no more than 10 minutes from the beach! I grew up in the beautiful city of Camarillo, then migrated south 3 hours to sunny San Diego for school. I was first saved when I was 7 years old through Camarillo Community Church.
My Roots
God has blessed me with a wonderful family and some pretty awesome friends! My mom is my hero…and always will be. She battled breast cancer for 10 years and went to join our Father in heaven on June 3, 2006. I miss her everyday but I know she is dancing with Jesus and smiling on us below.
I have a wonderful father and younger brother, Brian, who is 19years old and goes to San Diego State University.
For the past six years it has been my dad, my brother, and me. It hasn’t always been easy, but the 3 of us make an excellent team and with His guidance have done an amazing job at carrying on. I know my momma would be proud!
My Passion
(Besides Jesus of course) After losing my mom to cancer, God placed it upon my heart ever so strongly to help those fighting cancer. And for the past four years I have been blessed to be involved with an amazing organization called Camp Kesem, where I am a camp counselor for kids whose parents have cancer. Camp Kesem provides a free summer camp to kids whose parents have or had cancer. For the past four years I have dedicated much of my time to help run the UCSD chapter. Camp Kesem has been one of the biggest blessings in my life and my Camp Kesem family will always be a huge part of my heart. I move forward with the aspirations of being a psychologist for kids with cancer or for families coping with cancer. I wear pink proudly and pretty much own everything with a pink ribbon on it!
