So i did a trial run the other day of packing my gear. I was going to just wait, because I’m one of those people that like to do things completely or not at all… so the idea of packing stuff up just to unpack it and redistribute it in my room did not sound appealing. However, I finally realized why they recommended that we do so. It took me about 4 hours, no joke! It took me forever to decide what clothes to bring, how to best fit it in, my dad was paranoid about the valuables not being in any pockets, and basically I just had too much crap to begin with!

So here is all my stuff that I originally planned on bringing. Stuff scattered all over my room, on the floor, on the bed, the dresser, and in the closet. All thinking it’s going to make it into that little blue and gray bag that is next to the bed. Even my cat thinks he’s going 🙂

This is not compressed. This is big. Too big. Big enough to fill my bag on it’s own without anything else. Not good.
Well, as you can see, I had to make some adjustments. I had to get rid of a few things (which I didn’t even know I had stuff I could get rid of). But somehow, in the end, it all managed to get inside of the pack!
There it is! All 35 lbs of it. Minus my tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping mat though… haha. So overall it’s about 43 lbs I think. Just under the weight limit. So it looks like I am good to go! Now, being the logical, list maker that I tend to be… I decided to even make a list of what goes exactly where, so that when I go to repack it again, I know where to put everything without having to make any mistakes and without it having to take another 4 hours.
So it’s another 2 days until I will pack up all this stuff again, for good this time. And 2 days after that, I will haul it as best I can to the ATL (as my worship pastor calls it) and begin training camp. Crazy, just absolutely crazy. I can’t really believe it quite yet, but I’m sure I will in 4 days lol. I’m planning on posting another blog before I leave, recapping my summer a little bit, so this isn’t goodbye yet. Stay tuned folks!
