If life were a movie, I think Joseph might just be the leading role. He’s not exactly the in the shadows type of guy. His place is on the stage–front and center–and he loves every second of it! Joseph is thirteen years old and is in grade 2 at our community school. According to Joseph, his best friends are all the other older boys at the home: Rene, Benjie, and Jude, as well as younger Alvin (9yrs old). He also has many other friends at school.
Joseph, along with all his buddies, can be seen on the basketball court whenever he gets a chance… after breakfast, before school, during break and lunch, and then when he gets home…. this kid lives and breathes basketball! But Joseph is a kid of many talents, who enjoys bible study, computers, and as of recently, learning how to play the piano.
I don’t know very much about how Joseph came to live at the children’s home; but what I do know, is that regardless of his past, this boy has a very bright future ahead of him! As long as he keeps on the straight and narrow, being guided and discipled by other Christians around him, Joseph is a young man who will be going great places, doing big things for God and for the Kingdom!
Funny, charming, skilled, unique, inquisitive, helpful… some of the many adjectives I could use to describe Joseph. This kid keeps me on my toes! Though a handful at times, I always enjoy spending time with Joseph because of his big heart and charismatic personality.
Joseph’s prayer request for the week was that everyone would pray for the rains to stop and the flooding to go away. Even at thirteen years old, he has seen the damage and the devastation caused by Typhoon Ondoy, and his heart goes out to those in pain. In addition to praying for the floods, please spend some time praying for Joseph. Pray for his transition into adulthood. Pray for wisdom and discernment as he gets older. Pray for healing from any wounds from his past. And pray that he would grow as a person and spiritually, as a young man of God.
I hope you enjoy this week’s video of Joseph. I hope you are able to see what makes him so special, so appreciated, and so loved by us here at K.I.M…..
