This week, it is my pleasure to introduce you to Andrei Jan! When I think about Jan, the Tagalog word “gwapo” always comes to mind! Gwapo means handsome; and if you ask me, this little guy is one of the most handsome boys in Manila!  This little seven year old stud has been one of my close buddies since my last visit in October ’08, and one of my favorite people to hang out with at the home.

Jan is one of our most sweet and caring kids. He loves to show affection and is one of the first to cuddle up at devotion time or while watching a movie. Yet he is also a typical young boy, who loves getting dirty, climbing trees, and wrestling. He spends most of his free time playing with the other 6-8 year old boys in the home, trying to get in as much basketball time as he can.

Jan is in the first grade at our community school. He is a smart young boy, though his favorite thing to do is sneak out of class and wander through the halls–which I spot him doing about 2-3 times a day! And when he flashes that adorable little grin at you, it takes all of my strength not to hug and squeeze him instead of disciplining him!

Jan has one younger sister at the home named Pauleen, whom he is
very close with. Jan loves to be the protective older brother; he is
always looking out for her and making sure that none of the other kids
are picking on her, making sure she gets any treats that are handed
out, and also enjoys taking time each day to spend playing with her. Though they have been at the New Faith Family Children’s Home for almost 2 years, and at a previous orphanage before that, Jan and his sister have just recently been completely surrendered by their mother, a situation has been extremely difficult for them, since they love and miss their mother very much.

Please pray for Jan this week. Pray for his broken heart that misses his mother on a daily basis. Pray for his family, wherever they may be. Pray for his development, pray for the possibility of adoption, and pray that he would feel loved and cared for at NFFCH. And as always, and most importantly, pray that this gwapo young boy would know who the Lord is in a real and personal way.

Note about the video:
There is very minimal interview/questions in this video because Jan become extremely shy in front of the camera, along with his quiet voice and accent, it is very difficult to hear/understand him. I hope you enjoy it still!
