And the kid of the week is…. MAN MAN! His real name is actually Emmanuel, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone call him that. To the caretakers, visitors, classmates, and friends, this little guy is known as Man Man!

Man Man has the ability to make just about anybody laugh! He loves
to goof around and be silly, just like a six year old boy should! He
can often be seen around the house doing things that little boys love
to do… climb trees, race cars, play basketball and soccer, and play
tag. Oh… and eat! This boy loves to eat! If we kept refilling his
plate, he would keep eating it, regardless of how full he feels. He’s
actually been known to throw up after eating too much. (We’re still
working on teaching him how to stop when he feels full..) Man Man also loves to worship at nightly devotions, hands help high, praising His God!

Man Man and his older brother Alvin came to live at the children’s
home after a near-fatal accident in their home. Alvin and Man
Man were at home alone when their house caught on fire. Man Man was
just a baby at the time and was wrapped up in his baby blanket. Both
kids made it out of the fire okay, but both also suffered burn
injuries. Man Man’s left two fingers on his left hand were severely
burnt, resulting in many surgeries since the accident. He actually is still not done with the surgeries, and will continue with them once we have the finances necessary to get them done.

As if being caught in a burning fire wasn’t enough, Man Man had another near fatal accident after coming to live at the home. While at the pool with several other children and volunteers, Man Man almost drowned.  As you can see, Man Man hasn’t exactly had an easy first six years of his life! It makes me wonder what amazing things God has planned to save this little boy two times already…

Man Man is a special boy, and one that I am blessed to get to know during my time here in Manila. This week, please keep Man Man in your prayers. Pray for the remaining surgeries needed on his hand, pray for his learning at school, for a growing relationship with God, and for God willing, a family one day for him and his brother Alvin.
