World, meet one of the cutest little boys in the Philippines… Danilo!
His name is pronounced “Duh-knee-low” and sounds the cutest when he says it. (watch the video and you will see what I mean!)
Danilo is four years old (we think) and came to us just a few short months ago. And to be honest, he’s been thriving since he came! When I first met this cute little boy, he was playing outside with some of the others kids at the home. I knelt down to his level and I asked him “Anong pangalan mo?” (what’s your name). In his sweet little voice he said “Danilo po” (po is a word used for those older than you and/or to show respect). It was so cute! In his sweet little voice with his sweet little demeanor, ahh so cute!
It continually surprises me how happy this little boy is! He came to the children’s home smiling and he hasn’t stopped since! He loves every visitor/houseparent/volunteer that walks through the gate and will run at them with arms wide open ready to be picked up and loved on. Danilo loves to play outside with the other younger boys, especially Jaypee and Moses (before he was adopted). Though he was a fairly innocent and mild young boy when he arrived, a few months of playing with Jaypee, Moses, and other 4-10 year old boys has given him more of a fighting spirit, and is learning how to stick up for himself when needed!
Danilo came to the NFFCH speaking little to no English. But at such a young age and being around so many foreign caregivers and visitors, he is progressing quite quickly and we expect him to be bilingual within a few more months.
Danilo’s joy is extremely contagious. You can’t help but walk away with a smile after spending time with this cute little boy. We are blessed to have been entrusted with caring for and loving on him while he is a part of our lives. Please be praying for Danilo this week. Pray for his growing understanding of English, pray that he will feel loved and cared for at the home, pray that the Lord would be arranging for a forever family for this wonderful little boy, and pray that as he says in the video, that he would love the Lord and know how much the Lord loves him!
**Special Note about the Video: because Danilo is still learning English, he answered “yes” to pretty much any question I asked and would sometimes ramble on about people and places that have nothing to do with the question I asked haha. But he’s still adorable, so enjoy!
