And the kid of the week is…….. Angel!

You’ve already met Angel Miles, this is a different Angel. This is little Angel, affectionately referred to as Scooby Doo–a play off her last name.

Angel is four years old, and is right in the gray area between being a toddler and being one of the older kids. In fact, she is our oldest kid still living in the nursery area, and is just biting at the chance to come downstairs and be with the big kids very soon! Angel has been living at the children’s home for almost her entire life; she came when she was just a tiny baby, so she doesn’t ever remember life outside of the NFFCH gates.

Angel is very smart. She understands concepts that go over most four year old’s heads! She loves to ask questions and to figure things out. When you look at her face, you can just see the wheels turning inside her head as she tries to understand what it all means. She loves to read books, run around, jump from couch to couch, spend time with the older girls, and go swimming. Her number one favorite restaurant is Jollibees (a Filipino version of McDonalds), she loves to go on walks to the green house, and her best buddy is Moses. Angel is a little princess, very much a girly girl, always wanting to wear a pretty dress, and would change her clothes 5 times a day if you let her. Angel is a very sweet girl, a joy to be around, great at making people laugh, and always fun to talk with.

A couple of months ago, Kim and I were in the nursery on a Sunday afternoon watching the babies. Angel, like she often does, started asking a lot of questions. But these questions were pretty advanced for a (then) three year old! She was asking about Daniel and Jacob, twins that were adopted to America, and about their life there. Kim and I explained that Daniel and Jacob moved to America because they have a new mommy and daddy who live in America, so they went to be with them. Then Angel asked… “where is my mommy and daddy?”

Spend some time this week praying for Angel. Pray that God would send her a mother and a father to love her, to care for her, to give her the one-on-one constant attention that every child deserves! Pray for her skin, which is prone to allergies and infections. Pray for her speech; she sometimes has problems with stuttering; and pray for her transition from toddler into a “big kid.’ Enjoy the video…
