I wanted to send out a quick update on the health at the children’s home….

After a couple nights at the hospital, Diana recovered well from Dengue Fever. She is now feeling better and she and her brother have since moved to live with family in a province about 3 hours from Manila.

Late last week, brother/sister pair Cris and Tyra from the nursery also came down with a bad illness. They had high fevers, small appetites, and were very sluggish. After a few days of not getting better, Daisy (who heads up the nursery) decided to take them to the hospital and get some blood work done. The next day, after the blood work came back, Tyra and Cris were also admitted to the hospital for Dengue Fever. They have been there now for 2 nights and we hope to get them rehydrated and feeling better soon.

Other kids at the home, as well as staff and volunteers have also come down with several different bouts of illness over the last two weeks. None too serious, yet uncomfortable and frustrating, still.

After getting over the flu, my body has yet to recover fully. Since then, I have had on and off fevers, headaches, stomach aches, and general body pains. Then on Monday I started getting a rash that eventually took over my whole body. So the last few days I have taken it pretty easy, sleeping later instead of getting up for my usual early-morning nursery shift. Everyone wants me to be careful to stay rested, because all of my symptoms also match up with Dengue Fever, including the mysterious rash. So as long as I stay rested and hydrated, I can manage the small symtoms until the illness passes.

Your continued prayers for health at the childrens home are much appreciated! I will continue to keep you posted on Cris and Tyra’s health as well!
