We have arrived! In every sense of the word, team
Seven:Eleven has arrived. Physically, we are here. Four days ago, we crammed
all 7 of us world racers, 3 YWAM staff members, and 1 driver into a van-type
vehicle and drove two and a half hours to Ratchaburi,
Thailand. The first
couple days of being here we did a lot of tourist-like activities. Our
contacts, Bronwyn (Brawn-win) and Noiy (Noy) -as well as Ann and her children
Jade and Jasmin-wanted to acquaint us with the province and their goals/vision
here at YWAM, as well as give us a couple days to adjust and relax before
starting ministry. Some cool things we have done include: exploring a local
cave, feeding monkeys, praying over the city at the top of a temple, eaten
plenty of unique Thai foods, shopped at a local Thai market, ate lunch with
three English club students from the local high school, and attended one of the
4 local churches in the city.
But today, we arrive. We begin our first ministry, starting
with attending classes at a local high school and sharing with the students. I
don’t know if I can fully communicate what it means to me to finally start our
ministry. Not only have I been preparing and fundraising for this trip since
April, but I actually left my home in California
to begin this trip on August 31st, almost one full month ago, and we
still have yet to do ministry. I know there needed to be a time for preparing
and training, but I am eager and raring to go! And today, we will. I am
thoroughly excited about this!
I know there haven’t been a lot of blog posts about our
team’s ministries, and now you know why, but expect a lot more in the near
future. The city we are staying in has an internet café about thirty minutes
away, and even more exciting, we think we might have found a FREE WiFi café…
I’ll keep you posted!
