One morning in Ethiopia I woke up a little earlier and went to the back lot for worship. I had been having a bit of a rough time over that past week and just was feeling off. So I got out to the back and just began to praise Jesus just thanking him for what he had done in my life, and then I got a revelation. It was about 7 am and I look up and the sun is up behind me and in front of me the moon is still out bright and full. When we see the moon shining bright that’s because it is reflecting the light that the sun is giving off. It hit me at that moment, we are supposed to be the moon. In the same way the moon reflects the sun, we are supposed to reflect then son. We are supposed to show Jesus to those around us and that comes by just reflecting Jesus. He is the light that will guide us we just reflect that light onto other people. And then it went even further, the sun is this bright light that lights up the days for us, and the moon puts off light but not nearly as bright and strong as the sun.  Jesus is the strong brilliant light that is the source, we should just be a reflection of the love and life that he has to offer. The moon can only shine if it is being hit by the sunlight, it can’t just pull light out of nowhere and start shining on its own. In that same way we can’t shine that love of Jesus if we aren’t being filled up by Jesus and experiencing that love from him. We can try, but it’s not the same and doesn’t really work. Trust me I tried at one point and it was exhausting. So we have to choose, will we be the moon and reflect the son. Or are we gonna try to do it on our own and try to run on an empty tank.
