Let’s kick off this post with some recommendations that I feel compelled to make. As I see a year approaching where I am not able to be as attentive to new music as it comes out and where I might not have the internet so often and am unable to obtain new music that I AM aware of, I have been spending some time recently trying to find some new music. Not that this is really something I’m just starting to do…I mean I kind of spend a lot of time searching the interwebs for new tunage…whatever though…
OK so first of all we’ll go with 4 songs or bands that I’ve been enjoying lately. I’m going to try to breeze through them because I know that there are many of you who have no desire at all to read this portion of my blog.
- Boy and Bear: try out this song first. Really unique voice and the music is a mix between chill and upbeat. Also, this video is SICK.

- Peter Broderick: I’m not going to vouch for all of this guy’s music but I’ll just say that this song is beautiful.

- Summer Fiction: pretty cool band. I like this song quite a bit. There’s nothing too special about it but it’s just a solid piece of music.

Ok, now to the music that I actually set out to write about. I have been desperately wanting some new worship music lately. I wanted something new and fresh and POWERFUL…and I think I found something. Maybe I’m the last to hear of this band but there’s a worship band called Ascend the Hill that has blow me away the last few days.
“It is our conviction that through the power of His presence, and the gospel of Jesus Christ preached in every gathering – this world will experience an awakening.â€�
That’s what I want and it’s awesome to sing along with their music, worship, and pray into that mission as it comes through in song! Part of why I’m loving it though is because one of their CD’s which is titled Take the World, But Give Me Jesus, is them covering a bunch of old hymns. They pick some of my absolute favorites like HOW GREAT THOU ART, I SURRENDER ALL, and BE THOU MY VISION. I tell you what, there is some SERIOUS power in these songs and it goes right along with that I feel like Jesus has been speaking to me over this past week: worship has the power to bring awakening and power and THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN to this earth. Gosh I’m so excited to worship among the nations! But yeah you should absolutely check out that CD if you’re starving for some new worship music. It’s rich stuff. WELL, that was supposed to be just a quick blurb and then I was going to use this post to introduce my team but I guess that will have to be next post!! Look forward to that. They’re awesome and I anticipate having fun writing about them.
