“God, fill my heart. Make me whole. Refine me. Bring me peace. Help me to know that you are good. Let me see your glory and your power. Rain down on us. Show us your mercy. Show me your pain. Give me understanding of you God. Give me your compassion. Rain down on us. Let us see the world like you do. Show me who you are and what you love.”

Written on January 15, that was my prayer for South Africa. I wanted God to show up. I wanted to learn and grow and see miracles. After praying and reading I really felt like the Lord was going to do BIG things in SA. And I was right. Our Ministry is an answer to every prayer and more.

The Lord blessed me with incredible living conditions. Right off the bat this ministry was amazing. We had hot showers!!! And a room that we only had to share with one other person. The house was decorated beautifully and had all the modern luxuries. We were living the life. Shortly after we arrived we met the other interns we would be living and doing ministry with for the next three months. The place was so welcoming and I could tell this was going to be a solid community.

The Lord blessed me with an outlet to grow and learn. Because we’re a part of the internship program our ministry has, we get to take classes! Classes about missions and world religions, and also learn an African language called Zulu. When I told the Lord that I wanted to learn He took me literally! I’m so excited to dive in and see what the Lord wants me to learn and how I will apply this knowledge. Not only do we get to learn and grow via classes, but we also have an incredible staff surrounding us, pouring into us, and challenging us to grow. What a perfect environment to work on becoming the person I desire to be!

The Lord blessed me with incredible work to do. This is the best part of it all. So much of what I felt for this country revolved around knowing God and seeing His power, our ministry is exactly that. We get to go out every day and evangelize. We go into Squatter Camps full of broken and hurting people in need of God, and we get to share the gospel with them. This is a new experience for me, I’ve only evangelized a few times in my life so I was a little scared to be doing this. But I love it so much. The Lord has given me a passion for His people, and now all I get to do everyday is talk to people and encourage them in the Lord. I’ve seen His incredible power, and I’m excited to experience more. So far I’ve been able to see two people give their lives to the Lord, and I can’t wait to see many more.

God is so good. Every prayer I had He answered in abundance. I could never have seen this coming. This is going to be the best of the 9 months, with the most growth and the most ministry. Praise the Lord!
