On Sunday morning God lead me to this Psalm:

Psalm 60: 1- 5

You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us;

you have been angry- now restore us!

You have shaken the land and torn it open;

mend its fractures, for it is quaking.

You have shown your people desperate times;

you have given us wine that makes us stagger;

But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner

to be unfurled against the bow.

Save us and help up with your right hand,

that those who love may be delivered.

     I really felt as if God was painting me a picture with His Word of Haiti in this particular Psalm. When the Psalmist speaks about the the land being fractured, quaking, and torn. It brought me back to the earthquake and the fact that I have spent the last three weeks in this country that was completely devastated by this earthquake. The children here at Canaan talk about it a little and they shared that they were eating dinner when the earthquake took place. They were terrified but felt safe because of the faith that they have. The psalmist goes on to say that the people are in desperate times but for those that love Him they will be delivered. These children at Canaan have truly been delivered. It is so appropriate that this place is named “The Promised Land.â€ These children have been blessed with a home that is not a part of tent city of people that were displaced by the earthquake. They are blessed with 3 meals a day and a family to sit and eat each meal with.

     The definition of family has changed for me quite drastically since the beginning of my world race and then living here at Canaan. These children don’t have a family based on genetics that are taking care of them but they have a spiritual family that is taking care of their physical , spiritual and emotional needs. The love that is here at Canaan is unbelievable. There is true community here and everyone takes care of everyone else. This new definition of family has affected me as well due to living in community with my team. They are my safe place during these next 10 months. They are my family for immediate needs. But all of you are my family as well!! I am thankful for the internet it is a true blessing to be able to share what God is doing with all of you!!

     I want you all to know that I feel very blessed that God has chosen me to serve Him in this capacity!! As I sit and wrap up this blog, I continue to think what He has in store for my team next. Please pray for my team as we get to experience another travel adventure on Friday and Saturday. Our destination on Saturday is San Juan, Dominican Republic.

Love and Prayers,
