The month of January proved to be one of the most awe inspiring of my existence. Where to begin?
Our month in Thailand looked completely different than any other month on the race and it is rather challenging to explain. First of all, Chris and I were apart for the first 10 days. All nine men of our squad traveled to Mae Sot, near the Myanmar (Burma) border, and had some good manly bonding and serving time together – the World Race calls this “manistry.”
Meanwhile, the other two wives and I joined with a different team and spent 10 days in Bangkok as part of an Unsung Heroes team. At the end of the 10 days, we three wives joined with our husbands to form our own Unsung Heroes team. For Unsung Heroes, our month is completely different than usual. Instead of partnering with an existing ministry and supporting them in their work (as we’ve done every other month), we were sent out to find new ministries and contacts that Adventures in Missions could potentially partner with and support in the future. We did this through internet research, asking locals we came in contact with, posing the question to our Facebook network and, most importantly, through taking intentional time to listen to where God wanted to send us.
At the end of the month, Chris and I took a few days off from ministry for some married time together before we reconvened with the rest of the squad in Bangkok to travel to Cambodia together.
Got it? The next few blogs will focus on different parts of the month and the ways that God spoke in powerful ways.
