The World Race is a few things. It is a once and a lifetime experience (unless you come back as a leader or something). It is a chance to experience new cultures, new places, make new friends, enjoy off days, etc.
Let’s see, the hard truth about the Race….. It is only what you make it. If you open to God’s word and hear what He has to say, you will experience this Race for God. Not fun all the time. Is there times we have fun??? Yes! Is it all the time? No. It is almost like a career, it has its best and worst places. If you seek God in the difficult and joyful moments, it will be worth it.
It is not for the easily offended. People are not perfect. You are a person, so you are not perfect. If you are not seeking God for the people you are not best with, then you will have trouble. This can be ministry host, squad members, team leaders, etc. God calls us to love and forgive. You should too….
World Race itself will not make you super spiritual. Will you see God through others? Yes! Will your squad members do amazing things if you are walking with the Lord or not?? Yes! You see, you are responsible for your relationship with God. My Race gained more impact the second I decided to make sure I read the Bible practically every morning. Ministry is not doing God’s will, however being in relationship with Him will guide you as God intends.
In Conclusion, the World Race is one of the best callings God could have given me. I have learned and changed so much. Best part is that we are only going into month 4. 🙂
If you are considering the Race, I leave you with this. Do not let the enemey deceive you into missing God’s calling. If God is calling you to the World Race, you do not have to be perfect. You can have some problems. In fact we all do. Just know that God wants you to have your own story, not someone else’s. People may not understand what you are doing, be supportive, or optimistic about your adventure. No worries. These 11 months God is refining you into his perfect will. What a true blessing to be called to this crazy adventure. Pursue what GOD WANTS IN YOUR LIFE!
Sincerely,
Christopher S. Coopersmith
