It has been quite a first week here in Manipur, India partnering with Bibles for the World. We left Atlanta at 10:45 pm on October 5th and arrived in Manipur on Friday night. The journey was long and adventurous, but we made it here safely, and I praise God for it.
When we first arrived our ministry host prepared an incredible meal for us and had been just amazing to us since our time here. The first time I heard them spoke, I could see the love of the gospel on their faces and love for others. The ministry here was started by Rev. Dr. Rochunga Pudaite, who had the vision to have the Bible translated into the Hmar language. His story and how this ministry started can be seen in a movie called “Beyond the next Mountain.” But through Rev. Dr. Rochunga Pudaite God started schools, churches, hospitals, and Bible colleges.
And we had the opportunity to visit one of these schools on the morning of Friday the fourteenth of October and what I heard and saw was God’s love abounding. The kids sang with so much love and joy shouting to the top of their lungs singing “Shine Jesus Shine.” The gospel was being heard, and the love of God was exploding. The light of Christ was shining as bright as the sun and made my heart leap for joy. The amazing thing is that this school we attended has about 2500 kids and some of the kids come from Hindu families but are still hearing the gospel of Christ every day. It is amazing to see God’s hand at work to one of the unknown parts of this world.
Every day I see God’s goodness and continually prayer for the Spirit to lead me to opportunities. The Lord has done a lot in one week, and I can’t wait to share everything via video as soon as we get a wifi connect that will let us download videos. But throughout the week we have had the opportunity to prayer for those in the hospital, watch local football (soccer) games, experience a local youth group night, and share Jesus with kids at a local ministry. A ministry that is a library where kids from the community come to read English books and hear about Jesus. It is an exciting ministry to partner with this month and cannot wait to do more with it.
We have three more weeks left here in India, and I ask for your continued prayer that Lord continues to strengthen us, guide us and that His love may shine!
