Why in the world would anyone want to know anything about me?
I am not a famous actor or musician.
I am not a famous politician.
I am not a superstar athlete.
I am not a world-renowned doctor.
I am not a CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
I am not anyone special.
So who am I?
I am a child of the one True King!
I am a son.
I am a brother.
I am an uncle.
I am a friend.
I am not perfect.
I am forgiven.
I am just an ordinary person, who is ready for God to do extraordinary things.
The thing is God calls the ordinary to do extraordinary things. Moses, for example, was slow of speech. God used Moses to lead a nation. David was the youngest in his family, a shepherd boy. God used David to take down a giant and to lead His people as the king of Israel. Amos was a herdsman and took care of fig trees, yet God used Amos to prophesy to Israel. Peter was a fisherman; God used Peter to change the world. I can go on and on about the people God has used and what they did. The point is God can and will use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
I will be going on a year-long missions trip. I will be living in 11 countries in 11 months out of a backpack. I know there will be challenges along the way. I also know that God will be with me through it all. I expect to do some amazing things, but it will never be about me, and what I accomplish. It is always about what God accomplishes.
