***Welcome! This first post below is the electronic version of my ‘support letter’ that some of you may be receiving soon in the mail. Wanted to make sure I had it posted too***
Hi all-
Living in Columbus with great friends, amazing coworkers, family two short hours away, and a steady job are all things I am deeply thankful for. However, for well over 5 years now I have felt a tug in my heart to do mission work abroad. Those desires have only deepened the past two summers when I served as a Mission Trip Leader for Catholic Mission Trips, Inc., where we led high school groups on Christ-centered trips across the U.S. and abroad. Well, I have finally decided to scratch that itch that I feel God has given me. As such, starting in January 2016, I will be taking my talents to the World Race, an interdenominational Christian mission trip that takes us to 11 countries in 11 months. I will be spending 3 months in Africa (Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia), followed by 3 in Asia (Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia) and 5 in South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina). The travel experience will be exciting, and I cannot wait to have my squad-mates be family for life, but infinitely above all else I am looking forward to going on a journey with God; Father, Son, and Spirit. He has very clearly shown me that only He can provide the soul with rest, so I am excited (and nervous) to grow that relationship stronger every single day.
I would love to invite you to be part of my team. To be clear, please note that I am not seeking financial assistance. You can donate through my blog if you really feel called (ChrisOttobre.theworldrace.org), but your heart and your companionship are the true reason I am writing for you to join me. If you are the praying type, I would love if you could lift our mission in your prayers, and I would love to add your intentions to my prayers too. Regardless of your religious background, your presence as my brother or sister mean a lot to me, whether you are a family member (Hi Mom!) or a passing acquaintance.
More to come! I Love you all.
In Christ,
Chris
