Oh Africa. A place of wonder, amazement and one very important aspect of life: hope. I’ve never seen a group of people so dedicated in the word, a dedication to their people, and a love for be true hands and feet for Jesus Christ. I’ve been astounded time and time again.

But where does that leave me?

Back in the day, I loved to read a comic called Calvin and Hobbes. One of the scenes, Calvin, a little boy with an imagination of a normal eight year old (flying space ships, digging up buried treasure, saving the world), had made a device called a Transmogrifier. This device made of cardboard and a clothes-hanger, when the dial was turned to the right setting would transform you into anything you wanted.

After such a change in my life, I could help but wonder…what would it be truly like to be Jesus? Over the past couple months, I’ve understood the Father’s love, how to love myself, but now what would it be like to be like Christ and to share that love. Not just any love, but an unconditional, absolute, pure love to His people. So I went under my own Transmorgrifier, set the dial to Jesus, went underneath, and…out came me? I didn’t understand at first, but I realized soon after that it doesn’t transform us into Jesus. He’s already here, in us, inside us. And soon after, I was out with a new heart, a new mind set of wanting the best for people, the best for any situation, and to share one major goal to everyone I meet: that I completely and totally love them, regardless of what they’ve done or have been through.

But of course, it never stops there. I continue to challenge myself and other people to share that love, whatever that looks like. Some people are called to missions, to fly half way across the world to teach English or preach the gospel in the depths of the unknown. Some people are called to set up Salvation Armies, feed the poor in the streets. Some are simply called to reach out around them, to share encouragement and help out where is needed in their communities. But whatever that is, our true calling is to do two major things: Love God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. So, how are you showing love today?
Below I’ve got a short video during our stay here in Africa. It’s got mixed pictures of both Rwanda and Kenya, being at our ministries and well, us as a team being ourselves. I hope you enjoy!
