So as the journey begins, I woke 6:30 Monday morning to get ready for a long day of travel. With about 5 hours of flying to LAX and another 15 hours after that, it was definitely going to be a long day. What I didn’t figure though, was that it really didn’t hit me at all that I left the country, and before I knew it I was about 10,000 miles from home and across the pacific ocean.

It was scary at first, making sure we had everything set, everything checked before we could get in the country, but once we got to the main site and welcomed by familiar faces, everything got 20 times better.

After a quick bite to eat, we set off on an “adventure” the leaders set up for us, and this was some good down time to kind of finally let loose and figure out what exactly happened. Everything was happening so fast, it was the first time to actually break down what happened, and with a two hour bus ride, I got to catch up on what I was actually feeling, which was a good thing.

Excitiment arising, we finally stopped at our destination. After going up a little hill, we finally spotted where we were going to be: a waterfall. Now, I’ve seen waterfalls before, but nothing really compares to the lucious greens everywhere, the beautiful water coming down, and the fact it was really hot out and jumping in! But as I was looking up at the waterfall, just admiring it’s beauty, my squad leader comes up to me with a huge grin on his face and says, “Hey Chris, you realize your swimming in a waterfall in the Phillipines, right?”. All I could do was grin back. These next eleven months are definitely going to be the best months I will probly ever have in my entire life.
