Worship music has always been so special for me, despite not having a musical bone in my body! I have listened to worship music for years before I became a Christian. I stumbled upon my first taste of modern worship on one of our family trips to Florida, via a radio station called Z88.3, that happened to be playing in our rental car when we picked it up. Despite the fact that none of us in that car had a personal faith, we listened to it and sang along every time we were in the car and every single time we went back to Orlando in the years after this. We came home each time and downloaded the songs that we loved the most, and we still listen to them regularly – God was working on my heart before I even knew it.
If you are ever in the car with me you will know that only two types of music ever play – country or worship. Worship speaks to my soul, stirs my heart and allows God to whisper quietly to me through the lyrics. My times with just God & a room full of music are some of my times of most healing, breakthrough and growth.
Sometimes I feel completely disconnected, and I think it’s ok to admit that. Being in a relationship with God is exactly the same as my relationships with anyone else, it takes time and dedication. And when I don’t give it my focus and attention I can drift and not feel as close to Him as I need. It’s in these times I start up my car, drive anywhere with worship music and look for sunsets that are so beautiful they could only ever have come from God’s hands, and I start to feel His presence surround me.
You will see a lot of lyrics on this blog; heres the very ones that spurred this blog post..
Why am I still holding back from You
You’ve given me a faith that can move a mountain
But I’m still playing in the sand
Building little kingdoms that’ll never stand
I hear You call me out into deeper waters
But I settle on the shallow end
What if I gave everything
What if I stopped holding back from You
Starting now I’m stepping out onto deeper waters
I want to see some mountains move
Ready to give everything
Appropriate 🙂 I want to see some mountains move!
Thank you so much for all of your support so far, it means the world.
