It’s been about four weeks since we left CICRIN, the orphanage my team and I lived and served at during our month in Nicaragua. Leaving there was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. CICRIN is a place I will never forget and that will have a sweet sweet place in my heart forever. Life at CICRIN was beautiful. Whether we were at the school with the kids, hanging out and cooking/cleaning with the cooks, cleaning up the orphanage, playing sports with the kids, painting the school, redoing the garden, making up handshakes with Freddy or dancing with Duñia, we were being changed and moved. I left different than I arrived. While at CICRIN we lived with 13 kids: Julieta, Duñia, Hilario, Freddy, Noelle, Fernanda, Celesté, Maripas, Josué, Tiffany, Margarita, Gustavo, and Aña Doris. These children taught me so much about life. They changed me. Those 13 kids I lived with became such a huge part of me. Ometepe, Nicaragua will always be like another home to me. The friends that I have in Nicaragua are the world to me and could never be replaced. Ometepe taught me more than I could have imagined. Although Nicaragua is in a lot of pain and dealing with a multitude of problems, my friends in that beautiful country are some of the most joyous souls I’ve come across. Below are some photos of my people and of my home in Nicaragua. Please keep this country in your prayers.
